Graduate students in the School of Molecular Sciences are engaged in research activities that range from expanding fundamental chemistry and biochemistry, to solving real-life, mission-based problems that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries. Our students are addressing major societal challenges from a molecular perspective.

These research experiences provide our students with a training that will enable them to be successful in a scientific world where the boundaries between traditional disciplines are rapidly disappearing, and that will be relevant going into the new century.

Our Research Areas

ASU has a long history of high visibility, interdisciplinary research that has stretched the boundaries of traditional chemistry and biochemistry. Building on this legacy, research in the School of Molecular Sciences has been reorganized around six contemporary themes. Students can also ground their work in the traditional research areas and use this route to build bridges to contemporary problem-based research.
