Important Items to Bring to CHM 237 & 238

In order to participate in the Condensed CHM 237 & 238 labs, students must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The general rule of thumb is that when a student looks down he/she cannot see any exposed skin. This rule is strictly enforced, and students will not be allowed into lab without PPE. Listed below are requirements for PPE that students should bring to the Condensed 237 & 238 courses:

  • Long pants
  • Closed-foot shoes
  • Lab coat (long-sleeved)
  • Goggles (not safety glasses)

The students will also need a:

  • Bound journal/Composition book (no spiral or loose leaf notebooks)
  • Electronic device to watch online recitations (a computer is recommended)

Other Items & Restrictions to Consider

Summer months in Arizona are hot. Students should plan to bring appropriate attire for the climate to wear outside of lab. Students should pack sunscreen and a capped water bottle to stay hydrated.

It is important to note that ASU is a tobacco-free campus (https://eoss.asu.edu/tobaccofree) as well as an alcohol and drug-free campus (https://www.asu.edu/aad/manuals/ssm/ssm106-03.html).

If you are planning to stay in on-campus housing, plan bring toiletries such as shampoo and soap; Tooker House is a dorm, not a hotel, and will not have hotel amenities.
