Our goal in the advising office for the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department is to provide excellent service to our students regarding course selection, degree program requirements, deadlines, and university and department policies and procedures. We strive to enhance our students' academic experience at ASU by creating an environment where students can go with any question and receive answers and/or referrals.

Orenda earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University Los Angeles and her Master's in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She has worked in higher education for the past 7 years. Orenda enjoys encouraging and advising students throughout their academic career. She has worked with students who are pursing an education in health care and sciences in the past. In her spare time she enjoys Zumba, cooking, and spending time with family.

Amber Soergel joined the ASU advising team in June 2008. She very much enjoys advising Chemistry and Biochemistry students, and enjoyed her 6 years of advising in the College of Medicine at University of Arizona. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Indiana State University and a Master of Arts in Higher Education from University of Arizona. Amber has been very active in the advising community. She has been an active member of NACADA, served on the Residency Appeals Board for ASU, and various others committees. When not doing what she loves (advising undergraduates), she enjoys traveling, reading, and attending college and professional sports. She devotes much of her free time as a philanthropist for the causes of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

Dr. Tom Avants has been an academic advisor at ASU for 15 years and 5 years in the Department of Chemistry/Biochemistry. He began at ASU in the College of Education, then went to the University College and was Assistant Director of the Transfer Center on the Downtown Campus. In 2004 he received his Doctors Degree in Higher Education at ASU. His bachelor degree was a double major in Psychology/Sociology and he has Master's degrees in Counseling and Divinity. His favorite day is Graduation Day. He enjoys helping students in the achievement of their academic and personal goals.
He also enjoys traveling, grandkids, sports, and being active in his church. Before coming to ASU, Avants was a campus minister for 20 years in Oklahoma and Arizona.

Milton Corbin has served as an academic advisor for 5 years in higher education prior to joining Arizona State University in July 2014 as a Coordinator of Billing and Data Management in Residential Life at ASU. His commitment and passion to assist students throughout their academic journey leading to graduation resulted in Milton joining the advising team for the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department in November 2014. Milton earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Fort Lewis College and his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Milton has played 4 years of collegiate football for Fort Lewis College/Phoenix Community as well as played Arena Football. He enjoys spending time with family as well as attending college and professional sporting events.
